What sounds familiar?
These examples show how a mentoring conversation could begin. You can also go straight to the enquiry form and explain in your own words.

What would you like to do differently next time?
A mistake, selection decision or difficult performance can take up more space than you want it to.
- Talk through the sporting experience in your own words.
- Separate what happened from the parts you can influence.
- Choose one preparation or reflection habit to try.

We can begin by listening to the coaching team and observing training, then discuss optional conversations with individuals. Coaches’ perspectives and players’ own experiences are heard separately.
Discuss support for your people ↗Participation is a choice.
An attention or reflection exercise may be useful where appropriate. The purpose, boundaries and review date are agreed with the club. Private conversations are not routinely reported to coaches.
This support extends across sports. Football work covers club development, mentoring and wellbeing; it does not include technical football coaching.
Clear boundaries.
From the start.
Is this counselling or talking therapy?
No. Zisan holds a Level 2 qualification in counselling skills. This informs listening and supportive conversations; it is not a practitioner counselling qualification. This service does not provide therapy, diagnosis, treatment or crisis care.
What stays private?
We explain confidentiality and its limits before starting. Private conversations are not routinely reported to coaches. We agree what can be shared, except where a risk of harm, safeguarding concern or legal requirement means action is needed. Only necessary information is shared with the appropriate person.
What if I need different support?
We discuss appropriate professional support when your needs fall outside this role. This is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
Can a young person take part?
A parent or carer should make the initial enquiry. Suitability, consent and safeguarding arrangements are agreed before any activity. Enquire for a young person or read our safeguarding information.
